Chocolate Cherry Cake


Chocolate / Cherry Cake                                      Chris 1971


Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease & flour oblong cake pan.

1 pkg Devils Food chocolate cake mix

21 oz Cherry Pie Filling

1 tsp almond extract

2 eggs beaten

Combine cake mix, cherry filling, extract & eggs.  Stir by hand until mixed. 

Pour into pan. 

Bake 20-30 minutes.


(Make frosting just when cake comes out of oven, pour on, let cool)

Frosting: 

1 cup sugar

5 Tbsp butter

1/3 cup milk

6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Frosting – Combine sugar, butter & milk in small saucepan – bring to boil & boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat, stir in chips & stir until smooth.

Pour over warm cake.
