Honey Bun Cake - Denise D


HONEY BUN CAKE                                                          2007 (from Denise Dollard)

1 Pkg plain yellow cake mix

1 Cup Sour Cream

¾ Cup Vegetable oil

4 Large Eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly mist 13 x 9 inch baking pan with vegetable oil spray.

Mix cake mix, sour cream, oil & eggs in a large mixing bowl.  Blend on low for one minute.  Stop & scrape down the sides of the bowl if necessary.  Increase mixer speed to medium & beat 2 minutes more.  The batter should look thick and well blended.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.  Add the filling on top.

FILLING:

1/3 Cup Honey (I add a little more)

1/3 Cup packed lightly brown sugar (I add a little more)

1 TBLSP ground cinnamon (I double this)

1 cup finely chopped pecans

Drizzle the honey on the top of the batter, then sprinkle on the brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans.  With a butter knife, swirl thru these ingredients to blend them slightly (don’t touch bottom of pan).

Bake the cake for 45 minutes or until it is golden brown & the middle does not shake.

Refrigerate over-night.
